First day out...

Today has been a transition day. I have moved from working at the University to working for a company the Lord is creating through me called BigBlueHat. Lord willing, this little company will grow to be an international business that will glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in everything that it does. I would appreciate your prayers and support whenever you think of me. Feel free to recommend us as well (if you feel so led). 8o)

I am greatly appreciative to all those who have encouraged me and focused my thoughts on Christ. Today is the day that the Lord has given us, we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Carpe diem,
corum DEO.

Sad insight

I find it interested to review the perceptions the World has of the Church. Often I find that some seem either very close to the truth in their criticism, or else much more interested than even they realize.

I just stumbled across a truck load of comments on a blog entry called, Rapture Insurance. You can guess the topic.

Browsers Innovation article

For those very interested in the Browser Wars, you might be interested in scanning the Browser Innovation article by Mitchell Baker.

His comment on KHTML based browsers (i.e., Apple's Safari) is that it "has a ways to go to catch up with rendering real web pages." While I like what I've seen of Safari overall, it still does leave much to be desired in the realm of rendering. I'm afraid you'll see what I mean in the new version of the University's site when it's released soon (more on that later).

L'Abri Fellowship

I had heard of a place called "L'Abri" (French for shelter) in one of my counseling classes while in at the University. I've forever since wanted to find out more about it. Today, I stumbled across their site (thanks to my friend Brannon). Seems there a national orginization. Their aims, goals, and philosophy seem to be Biblically focused.

As with everything, I have heard various thoughts on their work and its quality. I plan to research it more soon.

For those who are interested in learning more about what they believe you can visit their History of L'Abri Fellowship page at their web site.

Boxes and Arrows

Boxes and Arrows is an online Information Architector e-zine that I read occasionally. In wandering around the site I found an article about their early days. Reading this (and admirring their site) is actually what started the idea of turning ourpeace.net into an e-zine.

I'm beginning to pray about ourpeace.net more fervently. I'd love for anyone interested in helping us with ourpeace.net to take a look at this article: Welcome to Boxes and Arrows. I figure if a few people can get excited enough about IA, a few Christians could get excited enough to build a web site about knowing True Peace. Sound good? 8o)

Pragmatism

Pragmatism has been inflicted upon web designers seeking standards compliance. If we seek to implement the open standards set forth by the various standards groups (particularly the W3C), our efforts are cut short by slow moving, monolithic, corporations who care little for the progress of technology and only for the revenue they might generate or the market they may claim.

It is thus that we are forced to make concessions for last years technology. It's time the world upgraded. Here are three options:

All of these browsers are based on the Mozilla Gecko rendering engine. Gecko is as close to full standards compliance as you will find on the web.

These project represent the future of the web. There is still hope. 8o)
