This morning a man and his wife got in front of our congregation.
The man let us all know of a sin problem he had struggled with, and that he wanted to make reconciliation with all of us.
Crowds of people came to the front, surrounded and prayed for this couple. The people got out of their pews and came to the front and surrounded them.
The people got out of the seats.
We're by no means perfect, but the Spirit dwells within us.
And the Spirit showed it's perfection today, in a magnitude that I can't express, fall short.
i have never been so moved by a service before. that was evidence of God's mercy there today.

i would have stood with them today if i could have.
the process of corrective discipleship in a church is a means of grace -- for the entire body. i'm glad you experienced that aspect of it anyway. it is desirable like surgery or chemotherapy is desirable. it is sweet to the extent that blood on doorposts and crossbeams is sweet. but the benefit to this kind of event is kind of parallel to the benefit of a funeral in the biblical sense -- that it is better to go to a house of mourning than to glibly float through life (or create happy-face churchy facades of "i'm ok/you're ok/cause we went to church today").
kammer. pray for me. i pray for you.
