Some day, I'd like to do a long distance bike ride. No, I don't mean the Tour de France, but something long distance, like across the United States. These guys had a great idea with their long distance trek. Why not do it in style or, at least, comfort?

If you don't feel up to the physical challenge, why not try to think of something that this AI can't guess in 20 questions or less. It got “snowmobile” in 11! I was impressed.

Got both of these via metafilter.

wow. it didn't guess 'institute,' but i got some laughs.

its first three official guesses were 'telephone pole,' 'fire hydrant' and 'tsunami.'

after 30 questions, the giving-up guesses were:

avalanche
pallet
traffic cone
snowman
pond
country
glacier
smog
hurricane
mummy
sand castle
cloud
manhole cover
government
gallows

i think it might've been getting warmer as it neared the end of the list... =)

Good stuff, both of these links.

I stumped the AI 20 questions. After 29 questions, it showed:

Is it one of these ...
a door
a zipper
a watchband
scissors
a doorknob
a book of matches
a floor tile
a CD jewel case
a gear shift
a knot (in string or rope)
a novel
a lock
a pocket
a bottle of water
a shoelace
a handkerchief

It was close, but the answer was "belt buckle."

With that in mind, some of the questions and answers caused me to chuckle.

15.    Is it larger than a microwave oven (or bread box)? Rarely.
12.    Can it cheer you up? Rarely.
11.    Can you get information by using it? Depends.

And some others that I'll omit to err on the side of good taste.

The AI and I split three for three. I can't figure out why it couldn't guess nuclear reactor! It did guess submarine, cell phone, and desk lamp. The contradictions are strange.
