hands tied somewhat.

In retrospect concerning the events of the past couple weeks further South, I'm led to write.

I see images of the Lord, through the skin of internet news, splashing through the guts of their former homes, people with all of their tangible possessions removed.

The understanding of the Law we all feel and that we all know being repressed by those hauling luxury items out of abandoned stores and the corpses of homes.

It causes one heart to swell for these images. You want to restore status quo.
And you want to push them further beyond that.

And you repress that swelling, knowing you cannot fix all these problems yourself. Some people will go, will help. Will show Christ to these people; His love perfected through tangible aid.

That one of the weary and crazed looters, whose words over national broadcasts fail to justify their theft, would realize they have no excuse. I want them to relax and rest in that fact. That they’re wrong.

I want my own heart to drop it’s stolen goods to accept renewal and relinquish idols, the hidden complicated idols. And I do, because of Christ. And they will only because of Christ.

The Christ who tells us not to judge even the ones in the media eye, to smash the idol of judgment, the false contentment gained through wrangling the wretched and hopeless into a corral in which we would never include ourselves.

The truth is that, of course, we are all wretched. And we know of a standard. And He has done it for us, and we can say we’re inadequate and feel contentment counter to what our brains assign to our state.

Praise God for His mercy and His grace to us. Praise Him for His unending patience and His presence. His transcendence over our struggles, which are monstrous.
