Leaving the King

I fled Burger King today.

I wouldn't call it cowardice. Following an extended critique of a semester worth of ceramic ware, I left Greenville Tech and veered into a Spinx/Burger King hybrid mart. The Coca-Cola comes in unleaded.

Once in line, I was flanked by a denim-clad Benjamin Franklin and a large black man. This is precursor to a study of the same menu comprised of different items made of the same stuff. French Toast Sticks and Chicken Tenders are interchangable in this Kingdom. Ben Franklin closed in and peered over my shoulder.

Black man was taking enough time to open wider the shutter of opportunity. The mysteriously hunched staff grueling over the fries, the prices stating finality, an hour of work for equal nourishment found in a sprig of holly berries: all of these factors contributed to the rising pressure, the tinny voice that urged me to avoid the 100% vegetable oil. Why is that still astounding? What is the lawsuit-magnetic alternative? Lard? Horse Hooves?

When the black man moved, I moved and left. Fled. So began my fast for the day, save a handful of oats.

Why?

I can't decide whether this is an existential moment or an anorexic moment.

Ah, yes. The oats. Quakers are always far more healthy than Ben Franklin.

I'm still waiting for the carb-counting, calorie-slashing, organic-nurturing counter culture to perform liposuction on this lard-waisted industry.

Spinach leaves, anyone?

burger king used to be the bomb-diggity until I discovered checkers, supplier of unparalleled meat patty fulfilment. plus they have cheese fries--shouldn't these be legally mandated at all burger shacks?
