Even now.

This blog is a dog. It's a shitzu that I keep swiping at with my net.

He evades me and retreats to a nearby mailbox or large tree, yipping.

And what's worse is he is slightly deformed.

It can read the paper while it's taught.
And how do you know it's a "he"?

To what name does it answer? ;)
If "it" can (in fact, or theory?) read the paper during training sessions, then I conclude that the dog is not only flawless, but worthy of acceptance in my inner circle of canine friends.

But then, perhaps I extend the mutt metaphor too far?

I'm troubled by your inability to trap a maimed animal. Worse, I'm troubled by the reality that I have called you my friend and people know you are unable to trap such an animal.
