not even a hint

Josh Harris specifically says that there’s no secret to overcoming lust.
The first step, however, is a shift of focus.

NEAH emphasizes the power of Scripture and the supremacy of the Gospel in light of all things human, natural, and confusing.

The reason books like this need to be written is because we are in a culture saturated by decadence, and that decadence is usually defined by sensuality, thus there needs to be, for some, constant reassurance that it’s okay to have certain feelings. And I appreciate Harris’ sensitivity towards that.

Back to the first point, though, the Gospel is the center; it’s a life-lived perfectly, without regard to oneself, without the incessant “lust” to shove our own faces in the dirt for mistakes we’ve made, to be selfishly penitent.

NEAH is also a call for resting. To approach sin as a whole soberly; not to base our spiritual growth on how much victory we’re getting over a specific sin; to be quicker to rest in the truths of Scripture than to rhino our way through life, trying to fix our souls ourselves. Our “persevering faith” (Piper from Harris) is how the battle is fought, though. Our rest is usually our struggle, we don’t want it half the time, whether we say so or not.

I read in, I believe Mere Christianity by Lewis, that the stronger the good creature/creation, the stronger it's opposite will be.

Life is ordained by God and the facet of sexuality/marriage is held on a higher plain within life. It's a symbol, it's a blessing, it's a message, it's a gift, it's a tool.

And because it has that heaviness, we all, and I would even say mankind as a whole, feel the guilt and disgust behind it's perversion and when we see it contorted in our own lives.

Life doesn't have to be that way. (John 16:33)
