The Mome Rath are lurking.

This is a Lewis Caroll email that the great CORY GODBEY sent me earlier today...

"A boat, beneath a sunny sky
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening in July--

Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear--

Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.

Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.

Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.

In a wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:

Ever drifting down the stream--
Lingering in the golden gleam--
Life, what is it but a dream?

that's the epilogue to 'through the looking glass'

there's genius there, look at the first letter of each line, A L I C E P L E A S A N C E L I D D E L L, Alice Pleasance Liddell, her full name.

Here's part of another,

All in the golden afternoon
Full leisurely we glide;
For both are ours with little skill,
By little arms are plied,
While little hands make vain pretense
Our wanderings to guide."

NARNIA MOVIE NEWS
09/07/03
After an on-off saga throughout June 2003, it looks as though New Zealand will play host to the new Narnia movie. Kiwi-born director, Andrew Adamson, has always wanted to film the movies in New Zealand, but has said he could not do so without tax breaks. On 01 July 2003 the New Zealand government decided to grant tax breaks for movies which would cut production costs by 12.5%.

If the deal finally goes through and New Zealand becomes the location for Narnia, filming is likely to begin summer 2003. Adamson has been quoted as saying he has thought about shooting the snow-bound scenes in New Zealand, but they would be filmed in the northern hemisphere. Already the New Zealand based company Weta Workshop has begun making props for the film (some of these props include swords and armour). It is reported the budget for "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe" is $170 million.

The links with The Lord Of The Rings movie do not stop at New Zealand and Weta Workshop. Grant Major who was The Lord Of The Rings production designer has now become "The Lion"'s producer and design director.

News that may disappoint fans comes in the announcement that 5 films will be made over ten years. If this is true then it means either four books being compressed into two films or only five of the seven Narnia books making it to the silver screen. If the later is true then which of the films will not make it? Would they copy what the BBC did and not produce The Magicians Nephew or The Last Battle? It's not clear. Looking at the Walden Media website, they have optioned all seven books; whether they turn every book into a film is another matter.

There is no news as yet of casting (unfortunately).

Personally, I'm excited to see the film, but I feel the same way, to a much larger extent, about "The Passion". There's a danger of cheapening.

Time will tell.

yes i have seen the site. it was one of the first that i found. the other day i came across the recepie for turkish delight. i tried to make it and failed horridly. something wasn't right. my second failure in the baking area. quite a discouragement i assure you.

gwen sent me the trailer for "the passion" but i couldn't get it to play on our computer. i am wary about a man like mel gibson directing it. i guess the Lord can use an unsaved man just as much as a Christian, but still. he can't have the same appreciation for the Cross as we do. who knows maybe he will get saved because of this.
