Inadequacy

Is never an excuse.

Peter. See his progression from a fisherman
to the Rock, the preacher of Pentecost and a martyr
who refused to be crucified like the Lord.

Acts 2:14 But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: "Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words.

Here's how God was magnified...

37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?"
38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself."
40 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation!" (In relation to previous blog entries, this is what we're still saved from)
41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

I'll funnel this down, the point being, telling God that we would be detrimental to His work on Earth is as backwards as saying that we would be essential.

Just as David said, "What is man, that you are mindful of him?"

and isn't it absolutely amazing that He still uses us? it hits me every once in a while (not often enought) that here is a perfect God looking at the fallen world, and a fallen people, YET He loves us and works thru our imperfections. and even though we muff it, it is still worked out for his glory. i can't remember if i read this in tozer or not, but i read somewhere that even if Christ is preached with the intent to save, or to mock (like the girl that followed christ saying who he was and what he was doing, and christ used it for good), he can still use the mocking to get to people.

peter is amazing and should be encouraging to us because Christ chose to have him in His intimate fellowship of believers. with all his imperfections and all his inconsistancies.

and yet He loved us.
