Romans 9:16

Romans 9:16

"So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy."

This verse seems to be an encouragement and a reprimand in that our existence
and our redemption is all about God. It's not by our own doing. We all know that measurable good works cannot save us (Eph. 2:8), but maybe there needs to be the realization that we didn't "wish" ourselves into God's family, we didn't "cry as hard as we could" after a service and were miraculously saved.

He had mercy on us.

And we can be thankful that we don't have to rely in our own erratic wills and motives to achieve "status" with the Lord.

Hope this is helpful.

true. we are all miraculously saved/beingsaved/tobesaved by his new-every-morning mercies.
