Joy Comes With the Mourning

The night will bring the dawn--
Take courage, friend , and stand
To hear the blessing in the warning
that night is almost gone,
and day is near at hand,
and Jesus' joy comes in the mourning.

When Christ called we could not follow--
Blinded by our eyelids falling.
But he would not cut short his call.
Oh, Christ awakens! Hear him calling!

We are called and we awaken,
Yet it's dark and shadows seize us.
But even so, we're not forsaken!--
There is hope til day with Jesus.

Though we've lingered long in sorrow,
Though we're weary withour weeping,
As yesterday becomes tomorrow
Jesus helps us keep from sleeping.
