Miss South Carolina

This is old news for most of you (at Bensfriends anyway), but I just wanted to post the fact that a Bob Jones Academy graduate won Miss South Carolina.

So congratulations to Erika Powell. I knew she was a good speaker and a talented vocalists, but I have to say I never guessed that she would end up in the Miss America Pageant.

Here is an article and a picture of her reaction to winning.

It will be interesting to see where the rest of my Class of '03 friends end up.

We're cheering for you in the national pageant, Miss SC.

Wow, I was asking a friend if it was possible for a BJ grad to be in the Miss America pageant system...with the swimsuit competition and all...good for her! My memories of the days in the Miss America system are very fond ones...but alas I got to old to compete : (

oh. and since you never called me back again i'm going to hijack your cousin's blog for a bit...i'm on your flight and we need to pick seats unless you just want to send notes back and forth on flyi napkin airplanes from across the cabin. that could be fun...

yep...a blog. I broke down and got one. I actually had an excuse for one when I came up to Philly. The goal was to keep people updated with what I was doing up here, but I haven't really had consistent internet access...

Oh by the way--being a tour guide up here--I learned that Lewis & Clark's way out West has been traced because the mercury pills their group took (to purge their system) are still in the ground. Weird.
