Psalm 145 - text (ESV and KJV)

Great Is the LORD
A Song of Praise. Of David.

1 I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. 5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. 6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness. 7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness. 8 The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9 The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. 10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O LORD, and all your saints shall bless you! 11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power, 12 to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. The LORD is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works. 14 The LORD upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. 16 You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing. 17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. 18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 19He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. 20 The LORD preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

1—I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. 2—Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. 3—Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. 4—One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. 5—I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. 6—And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. 7—They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. 8—The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. 9—The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. 10—All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee. 11—They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; 12—To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. 13—Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. 14—The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down. 15—The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. 16—Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. 17—The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. 18—The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. 19—He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. 20—The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. 21—My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

Isaiah 49:8-18 - text (ESV)

The Restoration of Israel

8 Thus says the LORD: "In a time of favor I have answered you; in a day of salvation I have helped you; I will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people, to establish the land, to apportion the desolate heritages, 9 saying to the prisoners, 'Come out,' to those who are in darkness, 'Appear.' They shall feed along the ways; on all bare heights shall be their pasture; 10 they shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall strike them, for he who has pity on them will lead them, and by springs of water will guide them. 11 And I will make all my mountains a road, and my highways shall be raised up. 12 Behold, these shall come from afar, and behold, these from the north and from the west, and these from the land of Syene." 13 Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the LORD has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted. 14 But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me." 15 "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. 16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. 17 Your builders make haste; your destroyers and those who laid you waste go out from you. 18 Lift up your eyes around and see; they all gather, they come to you. As I live, declares the LORD, you shall put them all on as an ornament; you shall bind them on as a bride does.
