when i interviewed for my job at the beginning of the summer, i had such lovely dreams of what it could become. i enjoy working at a law office. i thought, i could get into this and have a future here! here are SOME things that have been thrown in my direction.
1. unloading the dishwasher
2. water the flowers
3. kill a cockroach in the hallway
4. and today's winner is....drum roll please....
boss: hillary the grout in the upstairs bathroom used to be white. it looks pretty dirty to me (i am thinking in my mind, yes my mind not my toe, ok so am i going to scrub...bleach...i can see myself on my hands and knees with one of those bleach things a 1/4 in wide going in between every single tile. and the tile is the kind that are about 1 inch by 1 inch....i hope i get a bonus). could you call the tile company and see if they have anything to clean the tile and seal it??
so i make the phone call. feeling utterly stupid about the grout. heidi is laughing at me the whole time. i tell you, patience is a virtue in this job! i am expecting a mocha soon (my boss is heidi's boss and according to the april 1, 2004 entry....i expect some bribery too! =)

sorry you can't beat my job. today my boss made me eat donuts. very painful. i think it went straight to my hips. uhoh.
What, the mochas I've gotten you don't count??
And you forgot to mention my personal favorite of your responsibilities: restock the fridge w/water.
well you could be completely broke like me.
i welcome donations to fund my port city milkshake addiction.
hillary, when i moved to columbia last summer, i searched for a job for 3 months before i landed one at a law firm. while i have not yet had to water the flowers, i have unloaded the dishwasher and i, too, have killed a cockroach--in my office! out of curiosity - for what firm do you work? what is merideth up to these days?
dave: watch those hips! they were balooning last time i saw you.
heidi: I FORGOT ABOUT THE WATER! i love the water part. it is amazing. there is, i have found, only one way to get 62 bottles of water into one tiny fridge. i would love to get creative tho. =)
gwen: would you believe i don't think i want to help your addiction along? how bout mine for aussie burgers??? =)
hew: would this by any chance be heidi washer???
yes, you found me out! it is heidi washer.
Oh, I need an ausie burger RIGHT NOW!
