i'm all grown up now.

i got my ears pierced. and i dyed my hair red. it was quite the fun thing. my dad was a little shocked that i got my ears pierced. when i told him, he said "ok, well, don't get your eye, nose, belly button or anything else pierced." then i got my hair dye. i guess you can say that it is a european red. something like that. i should put a pict up...i will soon. =) along with all the other picts i need to post....but aren't we running out of space?

I like it. It definitely makes you look older (more mature? you don't look like you're over the hill or anything)

european red, eh? tudor rose, dutch tulip, or central London punk rockers waiting in line?

Posted by: gouge at August 23, 2004 11:56 AM

heh. you have your best friend to thank for the ear thing b/c i have a not so subtle feeling you wouldn't have done it had i not been there. :-) kidding.
they look awesome and the hair is sooo cool...i think you should try the london punk rocker look actually now that gouge mentioned it.
for myself, i think the bellybutton ring's up next since i already have 2 holes in each ear...

It's nice to do something different, eh? Although, some things are more permanent than others... :)

I've thought about getting my ear pierced, but I can't imagine piercing my naval. That just doesn't sit right with me. hehe

(I WAS KIDDING ABOUT PIERCING MY EAR!) hehe

yeah - you'll have to put up a pic - before and after.

I want a third hole in my left ear but my husband keeps saying "NO!" I can't imagine why 8^}

ok. so here's my question: I am all for cultural distinctions and diversity, in fact, I can even see the reasoning behind the occasional tattoo (I know. I know. Those are the items "we don't speak of") But what is the thinking behind the nose, lip and tongue piercing? I mean is it an object of beauty or a statement or what? Just curious.

I'm not going to get involved in the discussion on additional piercings because frankly, I don't understand them either. (Perhaps I'm getting involved by making this comment though, I'm not sure.)

What I really wanted to say was: Hill your hair is great. In about 2 weeks, the color will be perrrrrfect (reds do this to us; they take a while to relax a little, but it's worth the wait).

Cruv-consider yourself stopped by the Synonym Police. Navel: I believe that's the correct usage, but thanks for making me smile. Quite an amusing mix-up.

i totally don't get the nose/lip/tongue thing....completely uncool.

mom: you are so rebellious. ;-)

as for tatoos....microns and henna will work till graduation. :-D

not a synonym, Heidi, a homonym. ;)

oh man. I knew I should've just kept my mouth shut...

after tonight, i'm not sure that any of us can claim grown-upness.

Actually I meant to write 'naval' - :)

I don't have a problem with guys having pierced ears or gals having a thousand holes in their lobe...

It really comes down to the reason behind the piercing (or even a tattoo - wasn't he the short guy on 'Fantasy Island' ?)

Am I trying to get notoriety? Or am I trying to draw attention to myself?

If perchance I would have a better grasp of someone's attention to share the Gospel b/c I had a pierced ear or tattoo, then I *might* do it. Although the only thing that scares me about piercings and tattoos is the pain.

I don't like pain. :)

Oh - and my wife. My wife probably wouldn't like it much either... :)

ok. guess i had better jump in on this one! =)
jon- yes, i would say penny would be the correct name for it. just wait till this fall with my penny outfits too!

piercing is an interesting thing. i did it cause i wanted to wear the pretty dangley earings. but if i had ten piercings in my ears that wouldn't be pretty. so i am guessing the whole idea is to make a statement. i would sure love to see this generation in about fifty years when everything is saggy and ooky. can you see your grandma with an eyebrow ring? or a bellybutton one?

as for a tattoo, that would be a personal thing. cause i wouldn't want it anywhere visable, but if it is invisible, what is the point? and i just don't like the whole pain thing.
