Google Talk - they're at it again

Google Talk looks like it will be a nice addition to the ever growing Google "life" system. Google Talk is IM that connects to your GMail (uses the same contacts system), supports and open standard (XMPP), and allows to send calls through your PC (similar to Skype et al).

Haven't tried it yet, but I likely will soon.

There's also an add-on for my much beloved Trillian (Pro of course).

Google talk happens to be based on jabber meaning that any jabber client should work including GAIM

I'm thankful they went with open standards rather than creating yet another narrow standard that no one else uses. Google's got skills. :)

Have you seen the list of clients they recommend? GAIM's on it: http://www.google.com/talk/otherclients.html

hey, this is totally unrelated to the post (though I am going to look into the Talk thing, I need set up a messenging system for myself pretty soon) how do you get a tiny picture of your choosing to show up to the left of your url in a browser. I don't even know what they're called, but I want to know how to do it. Savvy?
