Quote

A small bit of faith will get your soul into heaven.
The stronger your faith, the more heaven you get into your soul.

Who is like our God

The Lord is not our equal
He doesn’t need the help of man
Who could ever give Him counsel
Who could ever stop His sovereign plan
Though men may boast of wisdom
And be filled with pride within
Who is bold enough to answer
When his Maker comes to question him

Though rulers rise against Him
The King of Heaven laughs
He rebukes them in His anger
And terrifies them in His wrath
He punishes the wicked
Pours judgment out on sin
Yet this Champion of Justice
Is a Savior if You call on Him

And we call on the name
Of the Holy Sovereign Lord
The King of all the earth
And we hope in the power
Of His awesome mighty hand
We tremble at His word
Who is like our God

The heavens sound with thunder
As His majesty is shown
The four and twenty elders
Fall down and worship at His throne
His eyes are flames of fire
And His face is like the sun
He’s the Alpha and Omega
The One Who was and is to come

And we call on the name
Of the Holy Sovereign Lord
The King of all the earth
And we hope in the power
Of His awesome mighty hand
We tremble at His word
Who is like our God

Here

For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come. Heb. 13:14

What is your city? What is your here and now?
Your "here" can be your family, job, school, career, house, car, etc...
These are not necessarily bad things, as long as they are seen with the perspective that they will not last, that heaven is the end of the story. We can't put our confidence in these things.

"Here is a place where people are always creating subsets of people—division because of neighborhood or last name or skin color. Acceptance or rejection based on looks or athletic ability or name brand clothes.

We grow up learning to calculate our words and relationships in an attempt to be accepted. We worry about what people think about us. We want to fit in and we learn early on that fitting in is a very hard game to play and no matter how hard we try, we can never completely escape the sting of rejection.

God wants us to keep in mind that there is more than the here and now! This is not our final destination. Here we have no lasting city . . ."

Yearn

holy design
this place in time
that i might seek and find my God
my God

Lord i want to yearn for You
i want to burn with passion
over You and only You
Lord i want to yearn

Your joy is mine
yet why am i fine
with all my singing and bringing grain
in light of Him

oh You give life and breath
through Him You give all things
in Him we live and move
that's why i sing

Lord i want to yearn for You
i want to burn with passion
over You and only You
Lord i want to yearn

happenings

I haven't posted anything in almost a month! Shame on me...

I just wanted to write a quick few lines giving an update. So here goes...

Church - God is so good! Sunday after sunday, meeting after meeting, He shows Himself faithful to His bride. Hebrews is such an awesome book. As we're getting close to the end of the book, we're getting into the application that is so needed in our lives. We started into chapter 13 last sunday and already in four services we have covered so much and all of this contained in the first 6 vereses of the chapter. Brotherly love, love towards strangers, the persecuted church, honoring marriage, and contentment. Huge topics that are vital parts of our day to day walk with God.

Soccer - Coaching is going great! The girls are tons of fun. We still haven't won a game, but we did tie a game the previous weekend. I really enjoy this, even though it cuts into my week big time! Pictures, practices, games, etc... All that really matters is that the girls are having a fun time and that they are learning. I have seen major improvement in all the girls. I'm very proud of them!

Condo - I'm loving my new place! The couches that I ordered from Rooms-to-Go finally arrived about two weekends ago. I had a housewarming party this past Friday. It went from about 5:30 till about 10:30 with people coming and going. It wasn't a huge crowd, but I really enjoyed it. We had a great time and really good food provided by Tracey Martin and Brenda Mathews (I work for Bill Martin and Dan Mathews at Hanover Mtg). Thanks guys!

Life - This past Saturday night I got together with a small group of guy friends for an low key bachelor party. We were going to go to Bald Rock to hang out, talk, and camp out overnight to watch the sunrise in the morning. Except that it closes an hour after sunset and you're not allowed to be out there... We were there for about twenty minutes setting up, etc... and a park ranger shows up. "Sorry to be a party pooper, but you guys can't be out here. I'm going to have to fine you..." Yea, we weren't so happy about this because there were no signs anywhere that state the hours or that you can get ticketed. Apparently there have been many incidents of drug use out there late at night and they are trying to stop this. We packed up and headed to my place. At least we have a fun story to tell about this bachelor party.

Wedding - The bachelor party was for Tim Morris. A really good friend of mine that is marrying one of my other really good friends Laurie Porter. Their wedding is this coming weekend in Grand Rapids, MI. I'm carpooling up there with some friends to keep the cost down (mumble, mumble... gas prices). I can hardly wait, this is going to be a great weekend! I also get to see some of my fam. in IN. We're stopping in Thursday night at my Aunt's house in Mishawaka.
