Weekend

So it snowed...

Snowy day.JPG

I still had to go to work yesterday, even though the roads were really nasty. See when it "snows" in Greenville, it's not really snow. It's this nasty icy, grainy, freezing rain stuff that happens to be white. So hence, everyone freaks out and the whole city shuts down. Sunday morning services were canceled at church we are just going to have a earlier evening service at 4pm.

My roommates and I had some friend over last night and they just stayed the night. Now we're are just sitting around waking up and watching tv. Last night was sort of funny, everyone was falling asleep at like 11pm. I guess the weather can get depressing, but many of us still stayed up 'till 2 or 3.

Falling at Your Feet

Your holy voice, whispers in my ear
You break me, and then you draw me near

Who am I to stand, who am I to speak
Who am I to raise my eyes to meet you
Who am I to stand, who am I to speak
Who am I to lift my hands to praise you

I'm falling at your feet, ruined by your majesty
My life, my everything
Are crumbled on the ground before you

Your mercy's rich, it covers all my sin
You bought me, now I'm surrendering

I'm falling at your feet, ruined by your majesty
My life, my everything
Are crumbled on the ground before you

Who am I to stand, who am I to speak
Who am I to raise my eyes to meet you
Who am I to stand, who am I to speak
Who am I to lift my hands to praise you

You're all I want now, You're all I have
You're all I am now, You're everything

I'm falling at your feet, ruined by your majesty
My life, my everything
Are crumbled on the ground before you

My Kids

These are my kids!!
I teach the Bible lesson for the K 4-5 Kids Choir. They are really cute!

Laura, the girl that I'm holding in my lap, the first day of Kids choir cried for her mother so I held and comforted her until she stopped. Since then, she always has to sit in my lap or stand at my side leaning against me. Last night she said, "Mr. Tom, you're my favorite boy." I also teach Laura's sisters, Jillian (2nd grader), and Julie (upfront in the purple). So anytime I see them, I play with them and give them hugs. Anyway, last night Jillian, Julie and Laura's mom told me that she hopes the Lord blesses me with daughters. It was really sweet! I hope so, some day...

Shadow-Bride

There was a man who dwelt alone,
as day and night went past
he sat as still as carven stone,
and yet no shadow cast.
The white owls perched upon his head
beneath the winter moon;
they wiped their beaks and thought him dead
under the stars in June.

There came a lady clad in grey
in the twilight shinning:
one moment she would stand and stay,
her hair with flowers entwining.
He woke, as had he sprung from stone,
and broke the spell that bound him;
he clasped her fast, both flesh and bone,
and wrapped her shadow round him.

There never more she walks her ways
by sun or moon or star;
she dwells below where neither days
nor any nights there are.
But once a year when caverns yawn
and hidden things awake,
they dance together then till dawn
and a single shadow make.

Believer's Rest

My church just started an intense study of Hebrews. We're talking about Hebrews in both morning and evening services. We discuss it in our bi-weekly sheparding groups. And it's been encouraged that we read it once through weekly and memorize key passages. This not well known hymn, written by Charles Wesley, came to mind as I was reading Hebrews 4. What an assurance!

LORD, I believe a rest remains To all thy people known,
A rest where pure enjoyment reigns, And thou art loved alone:

A rest, where all our souls desire Is fixed on things above;
Where fear, and sin, and grief expire, Cast out by perfect love.

O that I now the rest might know, Believe, and enter in!
Now, Saviour, now the power bestow, And let me cease from sin.

Remove this hardness from my heart, This unbelief remove:
To me the rest of faith impart, The Sabbath of thy love.

I would be thine, thou know'st I would, And have thee all my own;
Thee, O my all-sufficient good! I want, and thee alone.

Thy name to me, thy nature grant! This, only this be given:
Nothing beside my God I want, Nothing in earth or heaven.

Come, O my Saviour, come away! Into my soul descend;
No longer from thy creature stay, My author and my end!

Come, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, And seal me thine abode!
Let all I am in thee be lost, Let all be lost in God.
