Love Rules

And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 22:35-40

Love is the ultimate rule. When we love someone, everything we do will be to please that person and/or for the good of that person. Rules are left behind when we have love as the goal. Rules exist and are in place for a reason. But with active love, the object of our love will be set above any laws or rules.

The greatest commandment is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind. Our focusing on Him, knowing Him and loving Him is how we become more like Him. That will in turn be shown out to others as we love them as ourselves.
