After a discussion with Mr. Doug Young over coffee yesterday morning, he agreed to take me on as an apprentice/intern! I'm so excited! I'm going to be learning from the master. I'm also going to try to help him with marketing, reproductions, and various other projects. I start today and I will meeting up with him 2-3 times a week for a few hours.
Did I mention I was excited? The reason I'm excited and that I'm doing the apprenticeship in the first place is that I will be going back to school within the next couple of years to get a MFA in Ceramics. I want to teach at a university level and I would need the degree plus it would be great to have experience in sculpture. And the credentials are always good.
There are few joys ( at least for this time in our lives ) greater than seeing our dreams and goals start to blossom. Though there is no fruit, you can smell its sweetness. And with that piquing fragrance in your nostrils, may you find all the things you need to see the fruit in its season.

Hey Tom! My 'lil sis told me about your blog - very cool. I think we have some of the same friends. I'm looking foward to working with you and getting to know you here soon - you're in for a rousing time in Professional Services let me tell you. And for all you people reading this and don't know what I mean by "Professional Services" - no, it's not an escort service...lol. Maybe when you get over here you can help us come up with a better name for our department.
