Multi-tasking

Gabe13048.jpg

One evening earlier this week, Darla had to do some things, so I held Gabe while she did that. Thing was that I was trying to transcribe some old newspapers onto the computer. For a while Gabe sat in my lap with his hands on top each other on the desk watching the screen. But it was getting late, and he was tired, so he was fussy. That led me to go with the solution pictured above. In mere minutes, Gabe's head had rolled over, and he was asleep -- and I had finished my typing.

Boppy-ing along

Gabe13041.jpg

Gabe wants so badly to sit up, and his tummy muscles are getting stronger, so it's only a matter of time. This weekend we put him in his crib, surrounded by a boppy pillow. He sat up in it without leaning back. He propped himself up by leaning forward on his arms. It won't be long now ...

Hand-eye coordination

During the last few weeks, we've really seen Gabe's hand-eye coordination improve. Last night he even put his pacifier back in his mouth.

These photos are from Friday night, when the men had a fun night together.

9/11 remembered

It's a dark, dreary day in Virginia, completely unlike the crisp blue morning five years ago in NYC. Seems more fitting to have a dreary day like this.

I don't really have the time to do a big anniversary post, but here are some links worth following to help us never forget the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01.

My 9/11 links If you have the bandwidth and the stomach, listen to some of the FDNY dispatch tapes.

Dappled Things remembrance I highly recommend the Portraits of Grief that Bet mentions here.
