scrambled

After beef tips in gravy,
fish in tin foil; melons and bananas, and
cartons of ice cream; containers of coffee; old cereal
in neat jars, shelved, unmoving; she moved, with her husband,

who died. Before

he died, her menu
shrank to scrambled
eggs and applesauce. Most days,
scrambled eggs and apple sauce.
